Integration

Integration is the work of letting an experience change your ordinary life in useful ways. It applies to a profound meditation session as much as to a psychedelic journey.

The first 24 hours

  • Rest. Avoid stacking more intensity on top (no second session, no alcohol).
  • Write freely for ten minutes: images, phrases, feelings, anything.
  • Talk to one person you trust — or a sitter if you had one.

The first week

  • Re-read your notes. Pick one small change you want to try, not ten.
  • Return to simple practice: short sits with Integration or The Unbroken Whole.
  • Notice mood swings; they're common. Sleep, movement and daylight help.

Prompts

  • What did I notice that I usually don't?
  • What was I afraid of, and what happened?
  • What would "living like that was true" look like on a Tuesday?

When to seek support

Persistent anxiety, intrusive images, or feeling detached from reality for more than a few days are reasons to talk to a professional. Psychedelic-integration therapists and peer-support groups exist in most countries.
